Two Arab awards for the Association for the Development and Enhancement of Women (ADEW)

As a continuation of ADEW's efforts in the field of development through the modern means of communication, research and systematic studies, the Association for the Development and Enhancement of Women was presented with an award from "The Arab Woman Center for Training and Research" (Kawthar), and "The United Nations Development Fund for Women" (UNIFEM) under the auspices of Nancy Bakir, the Assistant Secretary General of the Arab League, as the best website about women in the Arab world.

ADEW also won the reward for the best research, presented at the Forum for Development of the Middle East in March 2006, the research paper was entitled "The role of civil society institutions to support women's political participation."

Dr. Iman Bibars, ADEW chairperson commented: "I am very happy with these two awards, they prove the success of our efforts in delivering the voice of marginalized women and presenting their issues within an integrated strategy, working on two levels; firstly, in providing necessary information to the media, decision makers and public opinion, and secondly, in working directly with women to identify their problems and find appropriate solutions".
